Getting Involved

Restoration and maintenance are never ending tasks. From the simple task of painting, to the more complex electrical work, there is no end to the number of jobs to be done. Whether you come from a qualified background, or are simply looking to jump in and get mucky, we welcome all volunteers to our small and friendly team.

We have regular Saturday working parties on-site at North Weald, but some members also choose to take components home to work on - in fact, parts of the roof and one nose were built in a garage in Portsmouth! If you would like to come and help, please drop us a message and we’ll let you know when we are next about.

Donate & Buy

As well as time-consuming, restoration, maintenance and operation are also expensive. You can support us by visiting our sales stall at some model railway exhibitions and at some of the Epping Ongar Railway's events, where we offer second hand model railway items, a vast selection of books and DVDs, and plenty of other railway-related merchandise and oddities. If you have any items you'd like to donate to our sales stall, we would be glad to hear from you.

We also have a donations tin on our sales stalls, and are currently looking at other ways to fundraise for the most expensive jobs, such as the generator, which will cost over £60,000 to repair following its most recent failure. If you have any ideas or can help with this, we would also be delighted to hear from you.
